We offer counseling services to adults (18 years and older). We currently do not provide services to children. To search for an EMDR therapy provider for children, we recommend utilizing EMDRIA's Find a Therapist resource.
Services at The Counseling Space are a particularly good fit for emergency responders, medical professionals, active military members & veterans, and trauma-survivors due to counselors' areas of speciality and therapy offered.
The Counseling Space primarily utilizes EMDR therapy to address your concerns. Utilizing different protocols, your counselor can support you in building resources to better respond to challenges, reprocess events, and decrease distress associated with triggers.
Session frequency is individualized to your needs & determined in collaboration with your counselor at the first appointment. Typically, EMDR sessions are scheduled weekly at the beginning of treatment. As symptoms improve, sessions may be scheduled less frequently.
The Counseling Space is a private pay practice and does not bill insurance. Many clients choose a private pay practice because it allows access to specialized EMDR counselors, greater confidentiality, and individualized treatment not restricted by insurance requirements.
The Counseling Space is located on the lower level of the 700 Times Square building (700 3rd St N.). To find our suite, we recommend parking on the lower level (lot spaces closest to and alongside 3rd St.) and entering the door of the lower level.
Upon entering the lower level, continue down the hallway and turn left. Suite 8 is the last suite on the right. The suite is shared with Elysium Massage & Wellness and Inner Spaces. Upon arrival for your scheduled appointment, please feel welcomed to take a seat and help yourself to water or coffee while you wait for your counselor.
During your first session, you and your counselor will discuss your concerns/symptoms, goals, and explore what may be keeping you "stuck" from living the life you want. You and your counselor may start identifying past experiences which are contributing to your concern for future reprocessing. If you have any questions about EMDR therapy, your counselor will answer questions so you feel more comfortable starting the process.
The Counseling Space does not currently offer telehealth, though will be considering adding this option in the future based on client needs and counselor availability. If you are interested in telehealth services, you're invited to complete the contact form to notify The Counseling Space of your interest.
